Anguish
Love Letter Day X
Anguish: Excessive suffering of body or mind. Agony. Transitive verb: to afflict with anguish. Intransitive verb: To suffer anguish. Origin: Old French angoisse, choking. (Chambers)
I am choking with anguish. My lungs are at capacity. My throat is full of want. Your hands are nowhere near my heart but I feel pressure, like a sea diver whose heart rate deepens and slows the farther she gets from the horizon.
I apologize for the direct nature of this metaphor. I apologize for nothing.
